Mind, Soul and Body and the Meaning of Life and Happiness

Somewhere in the mists of Greek philosophy there developed the idea of the separation of the human being into parts. There was the body as one part, the mind as another and the soul or spirit as the third part.

Further development along these lines then said that the body or flesh was bad, less than desirable. The flesh must be subdued and held very much in check as it contaminated the other two parts.

Therefore the mind and the soul were held up to be the redeemable parts. The mind, of course, was used for reasoning, the soul was used to connect with the Divine.

The body as meaningful and useful was almost discarded in terms of the advancement of human beings. And the mind and spirit were separated as if they were two different parts. Why is this significant for you?

Because you were taught that this is the way things are to be with you. Your body is somehow shameful and unqualified to help a person advance. Your mind and spirit have a wall between them that each may not lend help to the other to advance the person who has them.

If you were raised in western religion, this was the subtle or not so subtle teaching of your religion. Yes, it was "borrowed" from the Greeks and the original use of these ideas did not necessarily have anything to do with religion. But the western church picked up these ideas and ran with them.

The church was so pervasive in western society for so many centuries that these ideas passed into the main stream. This dichotomy became invisible, almost, but still strong in the psyche of virtually every person raised in western society.

The problem with all this, however, is that it is a false dichotomy. Very little is further from the truth. You, as a human being, function as a unit. For example, what and how much you eat and drink affects how well your mind functions. Alcohol is a specific example of this concept. Too much of it causes problems with thinking and physical coordination. But you know that.

If your mind tells you that you are inadequate to a task, you perform poorly. When your spirit is depressed as after the sudden death of a loved one, you may not be hungry for days. It has been shown that hormones produced by your physical body directly influence brain chemistry which - of course - influences how you feel mentally, which - of course - influences how you feel spiritually.

You are a unit. But please do not take the statement "you are a unit" to be an impersonal idea. You are a physical, intellectual, spiritual unit. Even that sentence can immediately be construed to imply three parts. So I reiterate: You are a unit. A Whole. Complete. One.

Would you be happy? Have meaning? Then you must (I seldom use the word "must" - sounds bossy) see yourself as that whole. Treat yourself as if you are one.

Which means, in my mind, that you try to care for all three, because all three are one. For example, meditation will help your mind, spirit and body. Proper food will aid in physical health, mental health and spiritual health. You get the idea.

When you find the meaning of life, which is to be happy, you totally influence your oneness. When you find well-being in the oneness which is you, you build up the foundation that is meaning and happiness.

Start seeing yourself as a complete whole. Know from this moment forward that you are not separate parts, but one undivided whole - that you can have meaning and happiness.

7 Health Tips for Keeping Asthma Under Control

Living with asthma may not be the easiest thing for anyone to live with, regardless of their age. However, by educating yourself on the illness, you can get a better understanding of how it affects your body and how to control it. The following are 7 health tips to help you keep your asthma under control:

1. Learn to Recognize the Symptoms

For many people, asthma attacks seem to sneak up on them and before they know it, they are in a situation that seems out of control. By carefully monitoring your symptoms, you will have a better idea of when an attack is going to happen.

2. Educate Yourself on Your Medications

A lot of people who are treated for asthma simply follow their doctor's instructions for taking their medications. The fact is that you might be on several medications and each one is going to get a different result. For example, you may have one medicine that is used for prevention, while another, like a steroid, is to be used for a more serious episode.

3. Keep a Journal on Your Symptoms

Every person diagnosed with asthma should keep a journal on the symptoms, as it can lead to great discoveries on what is actually causing the attacks. Each entry should include what symptoms you are feeling, as well as any reading from your peak flow meter.

4. Learn What is Triggering an Attack

For a lot of asthmatics, understanding what triggers an attack is how they are able to keep such great control over this illness. Simple weather changes could affect your breathing ability and understanding this could help you to know when the right times to take your medications are and which ones to take.

5. Plan a Diet that Includes Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

As many fruits and vegetables are considered to be antioxidants, it is important to add them into the diet. Vitamins C and E are well known for their anti-inflammatory effects and can actually help to reduce irritation or swelling in the lungs.

6. Keep Your Weight Down

Being overweight can easily cause more asthma attacks in the individual. By keeping your weight down, you can reduce the number of symptoms that you experience. Even just losing a few pounds will make a difference.

7. Schedule Consults With Your Doctor

The biggest and most important tool you have to help fight your asthma is your doctor. Their experience and education will play a vital role in how well you are able to reduce your symptoms. Regular visits with your doctor can help determine what triggers an attack and they can advise you on how to get it under better control.

Understanding Breathing in Yoga

An introduction to Hatha Yoga is an introduction to the breath. First class, first movement and we have to wrap our heads around what was previously unnoticed - the body breathing itself. The body takes a walloping 20,000 plus breaths a day.

Breath Awareness

Lying on the floor, we begin the journey of awareness of the comings and goings of the unseen breath. There it comes traveling through the nostrils and down to the abdomen and back up and out again. This observation can quiet the mind. For some this awareness is absolutely unpleasant, and it could remain in that unsatisfying category for a while.

Beginners become more acquainted with the breath with pretty straightforward instructions like, "Inhaling extend the fingers, exhaling gently close the fingers into a fist". It simply requires paying attention as you lie on the mat. The second movement could be: "Inhaling as you raise your arms overhead and all the way to the floor behind your head, exhaling raise arms and take them back to the floor by the thighs."

Breath as Guide

Then comes a change in the relationship with the breath. It becomes our guide. In some yoga practices we are asked to follow the breath, we have to pay even more attention and trust the process. "Let the breath surround the movement." As students we learn to begin the inhale and then move slightly after; and end the inhale just after the movement. Same principle and practice with the exhalation. In other words, the breath actually surrounds the movement. The mind becomes quiet faster.

Wave of the Breath

If you thought taking a deep breath meant expanding your chest like Superman, somewhere in your yoga journey you learn that is incorrect. You learn that the wave of the inhale rolls in from nostril to chest to abdomen, and then rolls out from abdomen through chest to nostril. And if in that breathing exercise after your posture practice you find your breathing goes the opposite way, there's hope with this corrective breathing practice. Place a large textbook above your navel and lift it on the inhale as you lie. Then lower on the exhale. Try this every day for about 5-10 minutes. It might take a few weeks to see the change.

Movement and the Breath

What's a general guide to coordinating the breath and larger movements? When the chest expands, inhale; for example backbends. When the abdomen contracts, exhale; as in forward bends. And when in doubt, move on the exhale.

The development of our yoga practice is woven into the intimate relationship we experience with the sacred breath.

Who Is The Unconscious Mind That Produces Your Dreams? Discover An Amazing Truth

The unconscious mind that produces our dreams is God's mind. This is an amazing truth that is gradually changing our destiny.

Who is God?

God is the biggest victim of the existence of terror. He discovered the meaning of sanctity and the power of wisdom and goodness. However, God cannot put an end to terror and violence alone. He needs help. This is why He created our planet and He gave you a human conscience.

You receive free psychotherapy from the wise unconscious mind in your dreams because the biggest part of your brain is absurd and your conscience is under-developed. You have to learn how to be wise, and then, help God put an end to terror and violence.

This is how humanity will find peace.

The scientific meaning of this religious truth is that the unconscious mind is a powerful natural doctor who depends on the cooperation of your human conscience in order to help you eliminate the absurdity you have inherited, so that you may use of all of your brain power.

Today you can easily attain a higher level of knowledge and have the precious unconscious guidance in all matters because I simplified and clarified the complicated and obscure method of dream interpretation discovered by Carl Jung. Only his method helps you understand God's words in dreams.

Jung was a scientist and this is why he didn't have a religious attitude, even though he wrote about the unconscious religiosity. He didn't obey the unconscious guidance after recognizing that he was a sinner. This is what he should have done, but he couldn't completely trust the unconscious mind.

He couldn't see the entire truth because he stopped his research at a certain point. I had to continue from that point and on. This is how I could clarify all the obscure and vague points in his work.

I, the literature writer had to become a scientist and continue Carl Jung's work because besides being the best existent therapy for all mental illnesses and even physical diseases, the unconscious guidance in dreams has a very important religious meaning.

The unconscious wisdom helps us eliminate all sins and begin a new life, far from wickedness.

My work was initially based on art, religion, and philosophy. My scientific studies simply completed the research I was making through literature and philosophy from the time I learned how to think and I started writing my first poems, stories, and philosophical conclusions. My writings were inspired by the unconscious mind, which also gives us artistic talents, and religious and philosophical inclinations, besides producing our dreams.

Science gives us so many explanations about our reality that it is considered as a source that provides us with the best proof we could have about the veracity of our conclusions. This is true, but not completely.

You still need religion, philosophy, and art in order to understand your complex reality. Only science is not enough; it cannot show you everything you must know in order to understand the multidimensional truth. This means that the materialistic mindset of the current civilization doesn't help you understand your reality.

The unconscious mind that produces your dreams is the God you first met in your religion.

You are a big sinner, but you cannot understand why you are a sinner. You cannot understand your own absurdity. However, it would be better for you if you'd be humble and remember your position.

The unconscious mind demands perfection from you because God is your doctor. You are far from being mentally healthy.

You have inherited absurdity into the biggest part of your brain. Thus, you have to transform your personality in order to eliminate the roots of evilness and absurdity from your brain and psyche. This is how you will manage to triumph over life's challenges and avoid ending up on terror and despair. This is also how you'll help God put an end to terror and violence on Earth.

God is a saintly creature who is constantly suffering because of the existence of terror, violence, immorality, hypocrisy, poverty, indifference, cruelty, and greed. His pain is more than unbearable, and He is suffering this way for billions of years. He created our planet and He gave us a human conscience because he believed that we would help Him eliminate what is bad from the Universe.

However, we are indifferent, selfish, and lazy. We don't help God put an end to all horrors. We don't even try to help ourselves.

If you want to be different and save your sanity you must obey God's guidance in dreams.

If you'll be indifferent, you will pay for your sins. In other words, you will have to face the consequences of the distortions caused by your inconsequential behavior.

You will also disappoint your savior and abandon humanity in a living hell. In other words, you won't reward the divine unconscious mind for giving you a human conscience. You won't use your capacity to transform the absurd side of your brain into a positive content.

You will be another absurd and unsatisfied creature in our hostile planet, which was especially created in order to transform our satanic anti-conscience into a human conscience.

You should care about transforming your personality and purifying your spirit, instead of ignoring the truth. The divine unconscious mind gives you the alternative to change your tragic destiny and attain wisdom.

Everything depends on your seriousness. You must obey the guidance of your natural doctor and spiritual guide in dreams with gratitude.

The unconscious mind gives you the chance to stop being absurd and evil and attain sanctity. In other words, dream therapy helps you eliminate your anti-conscience and acquire complete consciousness.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

The Greatest Gift: Your Health

In today's society, a lot of emphasis is placed on material possessions. We go to work so that we can earn money so we can buy the things we want, and there is nothing wrong with that. It feels good to buy new things! Along the way though, most of us look past the greatest gift in life. A gift money can't buy. The gift I speak of is the gift of good health. Without this gift, most other things in life don't even matter.

Good health is one of those things that most of us take for granted. I find that the only time most people start to appreciate their health is when they no longer have it. This is one of the weird things in life. You never realize what you have until it is gone. When you are young and healthy, you think you will be this way forever. Sadly, this is not the way life works.

People usually only start taking care of themselves when they have no other options. When the doctor gives you bad news, you finally start to see how important your health is. By this time though, it can be too late. Instead of waiting, we can wake up now and see the blessings we have been given in life. Your health is the most important thing you have, and once it's gone, you usually can't get it back.

Being healthy today is not the easiest things to be. It is way easier to be unhealthy. Food is all around us, and a lot of it is tastes really good! The healthy choices usually costs a little more and don't taste nearly as good. Our brains are wired to crave sugar and fat. Fighting these cravings are not easy, but the benefits of being healthy are worth it.

When you treat your body right with proper nutrition and exercise, you will have more energy. You will not only feel younger, but you will actually look younger. You will decrease your chances of getting diseases like diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Not only will you live longer, but you will enjoy the years you do live a lot more.

It's time we stop taking our health for granted. We are only given one body, so we should take care of it and make sure it's functioning as good as it possibly can. When you take care of your body, it truly does take care of you. Appreciate the gift you were given, and don't wait until it's too late.

When losing weight, you must steer clear of any kind of fatty foods. If you are cooking, try to use very minimal usage of the oil. Some of our food has natural oil so there is no more need of having spoonfuls of cooking oil.

The good tips mentioned above are some of the important keys in achieving your diet program. There are risks in your health if you are carrying your weight around your abdomen. Belly fat which surrounds the abdominal organs and liver is linked to diabetes and insulin resistance. Thus, every one of us must aim to take care of our health in one way or another.
